Poem, entitled "Saga of the Ingraham," written by Gerald E. Tilly, a Green Bay, Wisconsin resident who served on board the USS Ingraham during the Vietnam War. The poem was written over a nine month period and describes the experiences of Tilly participating in an around the world cruise from September 1965 to April 1966. He includes details about his tour of duty in Vietnam, which includes providing support for Marines, spending Christmas and the New Year on active duty, and chasing down a Chinese fishing trawler that was supplying the Viet Cong. Tilly also talks about going ashore for while on leave, traveling across three different oceans, and stopping for refueling at various port cities while on the cruise.
